Mary Aspedon, Ph.D.
Dr. Mary Aspedon is an Associate Professor in Educational Administration at Southwestern Oklahoma State University. Dr. Aspedon received her Ph.D. in Administration, Curriculum, and Instruction from the University of Nebraska and both the Master’s Degree in Special Education and Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education from the University of Kansas.
Dr. Aspedon has had a wide variety of professional experiences. Before coming to Southwestern in 2000, Dr. Aspedon held positions as Assistant and Associate Superintendent in school districts in suburban St. Louis. Dr. Aspedon also served as special education administrator for the Lincoln Nebraska Public Schools; as elementary principal in Omaha, Nebraska; and as Director of Special Education for the State of Wyoming. Dr. Aspedon began her career as an elementary teacher in public school districts in Olathe and Lawrence, Kansas.
Dr. Aspedon has a record of recognitions and service ranging from Kansas’ Teacher of the Year to Who’s Who of American Women in Education. In 2008 she received the Bernhardt Academic Excellence Award at Southwestern. Dr. Aspedon has been published in national journals and in numerous regional publications and she is a frequent presenter at international, national, state, and regional conferences.
