Administrative Issues Journal- Academic Conference
Theme
The theme for the 2012 AIJ Conference is “Seizing Opportunities.” During our brainstorming, we explored the potential interpretations of this broad theme. Individuals involved in teaching may want to explore the theme in terms of seizing opportunities for their students and for their universities, as well as for publishing their academic research, while individuals involved in the work force might consider how they seize opportunities for their businesses, their employees, and their clients or customers. Other possibilities not unique to teachers and/or administrators include envisioning opportunities for obtaining funding (especially in today’s economy), advancing in one’s personal career, achieving and/or maintaining a healthy work/life balance, or seizing opportunities for the community.
Although this is by no means an exhaustive list of the opportunities that can be explored, it should provide an idea of what may be appropriate topics for presentations at the Conference. Furthermore, presentations are not limited only to the seizing of opportunities; proposals on other topics may be submitted, as well. We hope you will join us for the first annual AIJ conference and submit your own experiences on “Seizing Opportunities.”
