Jessica Young, M.S., ATC, LAT
A native of Filley, NE, Jessica Young moved to Oklahoma in 2006 to begin her career at SWOSU as Instructor and the Clinical Coordinator of the Athletic Training Education Program. During that time she was also the Certified Athletic Trainer for the SWOSU Volleyball Team.
Prior to coming to SWOSU, she was an Instructor and Certified Athletic Trainer for Burke High School within the Omaha Public School System. During her time there Jessica designed and implemented one of the top 10 awarded high school Athletic Training Programs in the country.
In August 2010, she assumed the duties of Director for the SWOSU Athletic Training Program, which she currently holds. Her responsibilities include oversight of the CAATE accredited Athletic Training Program and instruction of courses within the AT Program. She is a member of the Western Technology Center Biomedical Advisory Board, and attended the 2012 Outstanding Professor Academy. She also served as the advisor for the Oklahoma Athletic Trainers’ Association (OATA) Student Leadership Council.
In August 2015, she also assumed the duties of Coordinator of Allied Health Sciences. Her responsibilities include administrative oversight of the department, advisement for over 17 pre-professional majors, recruitment of students, and upholding to the standards of the Higher Learning Committee and Oklahoma Board of Regents.
Jessica received a Masters of Science degree in Exercise Science from the University of Nebraska at Omaha in 2005 and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Education from the University of Nebraska at Kearney in 2000. She became a Certified Athletic Trainer from the Board of Certification in August of 2000. She currently holds an active AT licensure in Oklahoma, and has a former inactive AT licenses in the stat of Nebraska.
