Clinical Laboratory Science
Health Science Major for Clinical Technology (4+1)
Medical Technology professionals, also known as Medical Technologists or Clinical Laboratory Scientists (MT/CLS), play a vital role in performing clinical tests and data collection on blood, tissues, and fluids of the human body used to diagnose and treat diseases. Tests and procedures performed or supervised by medical technologists in the clinical laboratory focus on major areas of hematology, microbiology, immunohematology, immunology, clinical chemistry, and urinalysis. They must take 3-4 years of college courses followed by a 1-year clinical practicum at an accredited hospital.
