Larry Claxton
Lawrence (Larry) Claxton is the Manager of the Surety and Statistical Sections of the Oil and Gas Conservation Division for the Oklahoma Corporation Commission. He has held this position for the last 17 years.
He holds both a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management (1977) and a Masters in Business Administration with an emphasis in the areas of Marketing and Statistics (1979) from Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford, Oklahoma. He recently completed Certification in Sport Management from the United States Sports Academy. He has completed numerous other hours of course work in the areas of Public Health, Public Relations and Sport Management. With course work taken at Oklahoma City Community College, University of Central Oklahoma, University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center, Oklahoma State University - Oklahoma City.
He has worked for the State of Oklahoma since graduating with his Bachelors degree in 1977. He first went to work in the field for the Oklahoma Department of Commerce for 2 years as a Resource Field Manager, then transferred to the Oklahoma State Department of Health for 6 1/2 years as a Statistical Analyst . He worked a short period for the Oklahoma Property and Casualty Rate Board as a Rate Analyst before leaving state employment to become the Marketing Director for A Chance To Change for 2 years and for a short period as Marketing Director for Meadowlake Hospital in Enid, Oklahoma for a year. Then returned to state employment with the Office of Personnel Management for 2 years as a Personnel Specialist, then he transferred to the Oil and Gas Division of the Oklahoma Corporation Commission for the last 17 years as the Statistical Analyst Manager.
Also, during this time, he has worked as an adjunct instructor at Oklahoma City Community College, University of Central Oklahoma, University of Phoenix at both the Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and Houston, Texas campuses. He is currently teaching as an adjunct instructor in the Parks and Recreation Management Department for Southwestern Oklahoma State University.
