Research and Scholarly Activity
Students benefit from working with faculty who are regularly involved in research and scholarly activity. Highly motivated students are encouraged to talk with faculty about collaborating on a research project during their junior or senior years. Students are encouraged to use the research or scholarly activity to enhance their own professionalization.
Students in several classes are expected to develop poster presentations for the Oklahoma Research Day held at a designated University in Oklahoma, during the fall semester. During the spring semester, research students as well as students in other classes present posters at the Annual Student Research and Scholarly Activity Fair held here at SWOSU.
Individual students, including graduate students, make poster presentations at these events as well. Students working independently or in groups, or with professors, may also present research at the fall conference of the Oklahoma Sociological Association and the spring conference of the Oklahoma Criminal Justice Association.
