Online Consultations

We do offer online consultations in the form of email communication between consultants and clients. Please read through the instructions below before submitting a project via email.

We will work to respond to your email requests as quickly as possible, usually within 48-72 hours; however, it may take a week or longer during busy times of the semester to receive a response. In addition, if you are submitting a paper over 4 pages long, we reserve the right to review a 4-page section of your paper in addition to your Works Cited or References list. Usually, we respond to the first 4 pages with comments you can apply to the whole draft as you revise. If you would like for us to focus on a specific 4 pages within the draft (instead of the first 4 pages), please tell us in your email when you submit the draft for review.

Instructions for Emailing Papers

We conduct online consultations as emails between the writer and our consultants. To participate in an online consultation, you should email the writing center ( your draft as an attachment (please send us .doc or .docx file types to work with). In addition, please answer the questions listed below in the body of your email to help our consultants give you the best feedback they can:

  1. What was the assignment for this paper?
  2. When is the assignment or project due?
  3. Is this an early draft or a later, revised version?
  4. How can we help you with this paper? Do you need help with developing a thesis, an introduction, or conclusion; expanding ideas; learning to develop paragraphs, or to avoid sentence fragments? Let us know the specific area or areas you would like for us to address. While we usually focus more on larger issues concerning the organization and conceptual development of a paper, we will answer questions about proofreading and work to teach you how to be a better proofreader of your own papers.

We respond to emails during our regular tutoring hours. We will respond to your request as quickly as possible (usually within 24 to 48 hours), but please understand that it could take  up to three or more days to receive a response during busy times of the semester, especially if you send an email during a campus break.
