How do I log on to live@student.swosu.edu?

Go to the www.swosu.edu webpage and click on the student webmail button, or type webmail.swosu.edu in your browser’s address bar.

How can I find out what my student email address is?

To locate your SWOSU student email address, access the Student Directory by completing the following steps: On the SWOSU home page, click the Directory button. In the Student Directory field, enter your name. Click the Search button. Scroll through listings until you locate your information. Included in your information is an email link to your SWOSU student email account.

What is my username/password for the live@student.swosu.edu?

Your username will be your full email address including the @student.swosu.edu, for example smithj@student.swosu.edu.

What happens the first time I login to live@student.swosu.edu?

The picture below shows the screen you see after you login to your live@student.swosu.edu account for the first time. This screen prompts you to change your password from the default password that was set for you.  First, (1) type in your default password. Second, (2) type in your new password. The criterion for the new password requires your password to be at least 6 characters in length. The bar underneath the login will let you know if your password is strong enough. Lastly, (3) Re-type your password in order to verify your new password.

How do I change my password?

Once logged in to your email account, you can click on the button labeled Options, and then click on See All Options.  A new screen will appear. Click on Change Your Password. A new web page will pop up with your account information. Locate your password and click on the button labeled Change.  You will be asked to type in your old (current) password and then your new password twice for confirmation.  When finished, be sure you click Save.

Do all SWOSU students have a live@student.swosu.edu account?

Yes, all currently admitted or enrolled students at SWOSU have a Live account.

How do I log on to my live@student.swosu.edu account on my mobile device?

**NOTE: Before logging onto your email via your mobile phone, you need to first logon using a web browser and reset your password (see question #4). **

If you have an iPhone®, follow these steps to setup the live@student.swosu.edu email:

  • Go to the Settings button on your iPhone and scroll down to “Mail, Contacts and Calendars”. Once there, click on the link titled “Add Account” and then you should see the screen below.

  • Once you see this screen, you will want to click on the Microsoft Exchange button listed.
  • The next screen you see should look like the picture below.

  • On this screen, the fields will need to be filled in as so:
    • Email – your live@student.swosu.edu address (i.e.smithj@student.swosu.edu).
    • Domain – this can be left blank.
    • Username – that will be your live@student.swosu.edu like listed before on “Email”.
    • Password – your password will be the same password that you use to get into your live@student.swosu.edu on the web.
    • Description – This can be anything that you would like to identify this account as (i.e. “John Smith’s Student Email)
  • From here, click the Next button. Sometimes, Microsoft Exchange will prompt you to enter a “Server Name” manually. If this is the case, the server name is outlook.com. The screen will look like the one previously posted, just with a blank box labeled “Server”.
  • The last screen pictured is where you can sync your contacts and calendars in your email to your iPhone® and vice versa.

  • Once you are done, click save and the setup of your Live@edu account to your iPhone® is complete.

If you have an Android phone, follow these steps to setup your live@student.swosu.edu email.

  • From the Applications menu, select Email.
  • Select Add account.
  • Select Exchange account (or Corporate).
  • Type your full email address, for example smithj@student.swosu.edu, and your password.
  • If you would like this to be your default email account on your mobile phone, check the box marked Send email from this account by default.
  • Select Next.
  • Domain\Username:   Use your full email address, for example smithj@student.swosu.edu
  • Password:   Use the password that you use to access your account.
  • Exchange Server:   Use outlook.com
  • Select to use a secure connection (SSL).
  • Select Next.
  • Enter your preferred options for checking email and synchronizing calendar and contacts.
  • Select Next.
  • Enter a name for this account and the name you want displayed when you send email to others.

How big can attachments be in my email? What's the maximum message size that's allowed?

By default, you can attach a maximum of 125 file attachments to an email message, none of which can exceed the message size limit. The message size limit is 25MB . The message size includes the message body, message header, and any attachments that are contained in the message.

I'm not using Internet Explorer 7 or a later version. Will that affect the services available to me?

To use the complete set of features available in live@swosu Web App, you can use the following browsers.

  •  Internet Explorer 7 and later versions.
  • Firefox 3.0.1 and later versions.
  • Chrome 3.0.195.27 and later versions.

On a computer running Mac OS X 10.5 and later versions, you can use:

  • Safari 3.1 and later versions.
  • Firefox 3.0.1 and later versions.

On a computer running Linux, you can use:

  • Firefox 3.0.1 and later versions.

I have changed my legal name and want to change my name on my SWOSU accounts. What do I do?

You will need to complete a Name/Address Change form in the Registrar’s Office in the Administration Building, Room 108. This may be done anytime except on the days final exams are being given.
