Logging In to Your Voicemail

If you have a single line phone, lift the handset to hear studder dial tone which is your indication you have new unheard voicemail.

Dial 4-digit voicemail extension number (3222) or use message button on multi-line phones if applicable.

Enter your 4 digit extension number followed by the pound sign (#), or as a shortcut, press the # button if you are dialing from your telephone set.

Enter your 6 digit password. Keep the following in mind:

  • Your password cannot be identical digits like 111111 or 222222
  • It cannot be consecutive like 1234356 (It has to be a mixture of digits)
  • You cannot re-use the same password until you’ve cycled through five unique passwords

Recorded Greetings

Record or change your voicemail greeting by pressing 82 after you've logged into your voicemail account. You may want to use the following example. “Hello. This is (your name). I'm in today but unable to answer my phone right now. If you leave your name, number, and a message after the tone, I'll return your call as soon as I can. If you would prefer to speak with an attendant, please press zero.”

For external greeting press 1, internal greeting press 2, temporary greeting press 3.

The external greeting is used for both calls if no internal greeting is recorded. Press 5 to begin recording. Press # to finish recording. Press 2 to review recording. Press 76 to delete. You may also press 76 to delete an old greeting. Press 4 to exit.

The internal greeting plays only to internal campus callers. We don’t recommend you play this unless absolutely needed. The external greeting will play to both outside callers and inside callers if no internal greeting is present.

The temporary greeting is very useful in that you can record a greeting if you are going to be absent for a while. You can set an expiration date so that the greeting is deleted upon your return to your campus duties. With this greeting, you don’t have to re-record your main external greeting each time you need to go somewhere.

Changing Your Password

Voicemail passwords are initially established by the telecommunications department and must be changed by the user to a 6-digit password.

Voicemail passwords are good for 90 days and will require changing thereafter.

Be aware that you can only reuse the same 6-digit password after you have cycled through five unique passwords.

Press 84 (after logging on). Enter your new password followed by the pound (#) button. Your new password must be 6 digits long. Enter your new password again followed by the pound (#) button. To confirm, enter your old password followed by the pound (#) button.

Personal Verification

Press 82 listen for options or press 9 for personal verification for mailbox. This is the name and extension number you hear when other people call you and leave you a message. It also helps to facilitate correct dialing and troubleshooting for the Telecommunications office and the operators.

Enter your extension number followed by # button. Press 5 to record.

  • Advance to next message – Press 6

  • Delete Message – Press 76 Once a message is played, it will automatically be deleted after 3 days. Please delete messages as much as possible to free up hard disk space on the voicemail CPU. A deleted message cannot be restored once you have logged out of the system. If you delete a message and want it back, use 76 again before you hang up and after you listen to it again.
  • Terminate voicemail – Press 83 and hang up. Pressing 83 provides more access to voicemail users by immediately freeing up the port for use as opposed to just hanging up the telephone receiver which places the burden on voicemail to detect and relinquish busy ports for use by other users.
