Beginning Asian Painting & Calligraphy

Beginning Asian Painting & Calligraphy (CE) Activity is geared toward those who are interested in Asian culture and want to learn Asian Painting & Calligraphy skills. The structure of the class includes demonstrations, and in-class practice activities. Participant will learn the basic skills on brush ink painting of still life, and calligraphy in Asian characters. This activity is open to anyone with an interest and no skills or prerequisites are required.

The structure of the class focuses on individual demonstration/instruction. Each student will be provided with different practice material (for example, different calligraphy characters, drawing objects) depending on their levels, and previous practice contents.

Instructors Biography:

Ms. Jeong is an Assistant Professor at Southwestern Oklahoma State University teaching Studio Art classes. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts from Dong-A University, Korea. She also received a Master’s Degree in Fine Arts and a Bachelor of Arts in Art History from the State University of New York at New Paltz, NY. Throughout her formal art education, she has explored media old and new, including Chinese painting and drawing. 

Ms. Wang is an Assistant Professor at Southwestern Oklahoma State University teaching graphic design classes through the SWOSU Art Department, she received her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Graphic Design from University of Wyoming in 2004, and a Master of Fine Arts in Graphic Design from University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 2007. Ms. Wang is from Beijing, China. Her professional practice is in various graphic design areas, such as, print design, website design, motion graphic, video and film production. Also from culture influence, she has practiced various media such as Chinese painting and drawing.
