Continuing Education
Tai Chi Anywhere – Tai Chi Adapted to the Worksite, Travel, and Seated Postures
Tai Chi Anywhere
Tai Chi Anywhere Continuing Education (CE) Activity is a two-hour activity designed to meet the needs of anyone who wants to relieve stress, increase energy level, stimulate circulation, increase ability to focus, and enjoy a gentle but strengthening workout—but do not have the luxury of being able to simply get up and move freely about whenever they wish. This activity is effective for office workers taking a break or in office exercise programs, travelers, individuals requiring assistance in standing or walking, or simply those whose activity is confined to certain areas where limited movements would be acceptable but moving about in several directions would be blocked by stationary furniture, machinery, etc.
Participants will have a basic understanding of the origins and current nature of Tai Chi as a world-wide form of exercise and a recommended form of exercise for certain individuals with arthritis, diabetes, osteoporosis, balance problems, and some types of back pain. They will have a general understanding of the movements that make up the exercise identified as “Tai Chi Anywhere” and will be familiar with the precautions one should follow to practice the exercises safely. Participants will be able to perform the basic movements with the guidance of the instructor or the instructional video. These exercises are appropriate for individuals of all ages.
