Continuing Education - Community Service

Continuing Education provides life-long learning opportunities for the campus and surrounding communities to assist citizens in the achievement of personal, family, civic, or professional goals through the offering of diversified short-term noncredit activities. It also extends to faculty and others with expertise the opportunity to share their talents and abilities with the community and to reap some financial rewards for their expertise and effort.

Continuing Education activities are offered to meet a variety of educational needs. These activities are generally short-term and structured in a variety of delivery methods. CE Activities can be designed for individuals, groups, and organizations. Activity age groups could be adult, youth, or children. Activities could include short courses, seminars, workshops, tours, camps, etc. and may differ in length. Activity subjects could include almost any subject.

Activities for professional development that award generic CEUs (Continuing Education Units) can also be considered. The generic CEU serves as a unit of measure used in continuing education activities to recognize an individual’s successful completion of an approved non-credit activity. Professional organizations, licensing agencies, certifying bodies, and employers use CEU documentation to prove effective learning has taken place through CEU participation.

If interested in presenting a Continuing Education Activity, complete a Continuing Education Activity Proposal Form. Access to the proposal form and additional information by clicking here. Submit the Application to the Office of Sponsored Programs and Continuing Education, Stafford Bldg., Room 209.
