Fall 2006 Council Meeting

The Council for Grantsmanship and Research held their fifth semi-annual meeting on the campus of Southwestern Oklahoma State University (SWOSU) on October 5, 2006.  Anita Blankenship, 2006 Council Chair, presided over the meeting.  The SWOSU Office of Sponsored Programs hosted the meeting.
 
The purpose of this Council is to develop a collegial atmosphere in which regional university “research” administrators can discuss their mutual needs and programs regarding extramural activity, i.e., grants, contracts, and cooperative agreements.  During the business meeting, Kate Felzien, Coordinator of Research and Sponsored Programs Administration at Northeastern State University was elected 2007 Chair with Vivian Whitney, Grants Research Specialist at East Central University to serve as secretary for 2007.
 
Council Members present were Melanie Buchleiter, Northeastern State University; Julie Dearing, University of Central Oklahoma; Mark Denton, Northwestern Oklahoma State University; Kate Felzien, Northeastern State University; Linda Garrett, University of Central Oklahoma; Linda Mason, Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education; Vivian Whitney, East Central University; Gregory Wilson, University of Central Oklahoma; and Anita Blankenship, Southwestern Oklahoma State University.  Guests at the meeting were Blake Sonobe, SWOSU Provost and Iona Miller, Administrative Assistant, SWOSU Office of Sponsored Programs.  The Spring 2007 meeting will be held at the University of Central Oklahoma, Edmond. OK.
