Oklahoma Research Day 2007

Oklahoma Research Day 2007 was held October 26, 2007, on the University of Central Oklahoma campus in Edmond, Oklahoma, with twenty-one universities and colleges participating.  The annual event is the largest celebration of creativity in the state and is organized by the Council on Research for Regional Universities.  Provost Blake Sonobe and Anita Blankenship, Director of the Office of Sponsored Programs, are the SWOSU representatives on the council. Sponsors for the event were Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education, Oklahoma Center for the Advancement of science & Technology, Oklahoma EPSCoR – National Science Foundation, National Institutes of Health – INBRE, and Oklahoma Regional Universities.

Each year, Oklahoma Research Day provides an opportunity for regional university students and faculty from all disciplines to showcase their research activities.  At noon presenters were invited to attend a banquet in their honor with Dr. Glen Johnson, Oklahoma Regents for Higher Education (OSRHE) Chancellor, presenting the Chancellor’s Remarks and introducing the keynote speaker, Regent Bill W. Burgess, Jr., Chairman of the Board, OSRHE.  

With 52 presentations registered, Southwestern Oklahoma State University (SWOSU) was one of the largest universities represented. Participating SWOSU students and faculty represented the following SWOSU Colleges:  1) College of Arts and Sciences [Department of Art, Department of Biological Sciences, Department of Chemistry/Physics, Department of Mathematics, and Department of Social Sciences]; 2) College of Professional & Graduate Studies [School of Allied Health, Athletic Training Education Program, Department of Entrepreneurship and Computer Systems,  Department of Industrial and Engineering Technology, and Department of Psychology] and 3) the College of Pharmacy [Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences].
