Oklahoma Research Day 2013
SWOSU Participates in the 15th Annual Oklahoma Research Day
Thirty-nine students and fifteen faculty members from Southwestern Oklahoma State University participated in the 15th annual Oklahoma Research Day held at the University of Central Oklahoma in Edmond, Oklahoma, on March 8, 2013.
Oklahoma Research Day provides an opportunity for all Oklahoma university students and faculty from all disciplines to showcase their research activities. SWOSU students and faculty presented more than 25 projects.
The event was sponsored by the Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education, the Oklahoma Experimental Program for Stimulating Competitive Research—National Science Foundation, the Oklahoma IDeA Network for Biomedical Research Excellence—National Institutes of Health, and Oklahoma Regional Universities; it is organized by the Council on Research for Regional Universities.
The 2013 Oklahoma Research Day also featured a number of prominent speakers including Dr. Glen D. Johnson, Chancellor, and Dr. Blake I. Sonobe, Vice Chancellor, for the Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education; Dr. Don Betz, President of the University of Central Oklahoma; Dr. William Radke, Provost and Vice President of the University of Central Oklahoma; Dr. Gregory M. Wilson, Assistant Vice President, Office of Research and Grants at the University of Oklahoma; and keynote speaker Dr. Elizabeth Ambos, Executive Officer of the Council on Undergraduate Research. Each speaker provided his or her perspective on the importance of undergraduate research for success as an undergraduate and graduate student as well as the importance of technological advancement through research.
SWOSU faculty participating were Ms. Teri Allen, Mr. Dan Brown, Dr. Brian Campbell, Dr. Lisa Castle, Ms. Meghan Eliason, Dr. Trevor Ellis, Dr. Victor Gonzalez, Dr. Andrea Holgado, Dr. Faruk Khan, Dr. Warren Moseley, Dr. Eric Paul, Dr. Hardeep Saluja, Dr. Christopher Shane, Dr. Muatasem Ubeidat, and Ms. Xiaomiao Wang.
