Peace Officers Memorial Day

We wish to remind you to display your American flag at half-staff on Wednesday, May 15, 2013, in remembrance of all Federal, State and local officers killed or disabled in the line of duty.

Peace Officers Memorial Day was established by President John F Kennedy who signed the bill into law on October 1, 1962.


Flags in Oklahoma Ordered to Half-staff

Mary Fallin, Governor of the State of Oklahoma, has directed all American and Oklahoma flags on State property be displayed at 1/2-staff from 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. on Friday, May 10, 2013 to honor Specialist Charles P. McClure, an Oklahoma soldier, who died on May 2, 2013, while on active duty supporting Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan.

Honoring the Victims of the Tragedy in Boston, Massachusetts

President Obama has ordered that the flag of the United States shall be flown at half-staff at the White House and upon all public buildings and grounds, at all military posts and naval stations, and on all naval vessels of the Federal Government in the District of Columbia and throughout the United States and its Territories and possessions until sunset, April 20, 2013, as a mark of respect for the victims of the senseless acts of violence perpetrated on April 15, 2013, in Boston, Massachusetts.


Flags in Oklahoma Ordered to Half-staff

Mary Fallin, Governor of the State of Oklahoma, has directed all American and Oklahoma flags on State property be displayed at 1/2-staff from 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 21, 2013 to honor Staff Sergeant Rex L. Schad, an Oklahoma soldier, who died on March 11, 2013, while on active duty supporting Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan.


Honoring the Victims of the Shooting in Newton, Conn.

President Obama has ordered the flag flown at half-staff at the White House and all federal buildings, military posts and naval stations and vessels through Dec. 18 in honor of the victims of the shooting in Newton, Conn.


National Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day

In observance of National Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day, United States flags should be displayed at half-staff from sunrise to sunset on Friday, December 7, 2012 to honor more than 3500 Americans killed or wounded at Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941.

National Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day was established by Public Law 103-308 - August 23, 1994.

Mary Fallin, Governor of the State of Oklahoma, has directed all American and Oklahoma flags on State property be displayed at 1/2-staff from 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. on Friday, September 28, 2012 to honor Private First Class Jon R. Townsend, an Oklahoma soldier, who died on September 16, 2012 while on active duty supporting Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan.

Honoring the Victims of the Attack in Benghazi, Libya

As a mark of respect for Americans killed in the attack on the American Diplomatic post in Benghazi, Libya, President Obama has issued a proclamation for all American flags to be displayed at 1/2-staff until sunset on Friday, September 16, 2012.


September 11th is Patriot Day

September 11, 2012 - In observance of Patriot Day, United States flags should be displayed at half-staff from sunrise to sunset to honor the memory of thousands of victims of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attack on America.

Patriot Day was established by Public Law on December 18, 2001, as a National Day of Prayer and Remembrance. On 911 Americans are asked to observe a moment of silence at 8:46 A.M. EDT.
