A.D.A.
SWOSU provides services to insure access for students with varying mobility, visual, or hearing abilities, or learning disabilities.
A disability is defined as a mental or physical impairment that substantially limits a major life activity. Examples of impairments that can have a substantial impact on a life function are visual impairment and blindness, hearing impairment and deafness, mobility impairment, learning disabilities, and chemical sensitivity. The impairment must be substantial to be covered by A.D.A.
All disabilities must be verified and documented through the Dean of Students Office. Documentation must:
- verify the presence of a mental or physical impairment that substantially limits a major life function, and
- provide enough information to support reasonable accommodations that are appropriate and effective.
The Dean of Students Office is located in the General Thomas P. Stafford Center, Room 214. The Dean can also be reached at (580) 774-3767.
