Southwestern Oklahoma State University

Residence Life

Residence Life is a vivid and active part of the atmosphere at SWOSU. With over one-fifth of the student population residing in the dorms, our residents become the leaders of tomorrow. The Housing program at Southwestern Oklahoma State University holds an important position in the University's concern for developing the whole student in an atmosphere of high personal integrity and responsibility while maintaining our ongoing commitment to learning. We plan programs/activities and develop policies and procedures with the intent to develop characteristics desirable in a SWOSU-educated person:

  • developing a sense of belonging
  • acquiring knowledge and skills
  • developing critical thinking
  • making ethical choices
  • assuming self-responsibility

The University owns five residence halls that provide on-campus housing for 1,254 students. Women may choose from Oklahoma and Stewart Halls, and men may choose from Jefferson, Neff, and Rogers Halls. All rooms are air-conditioned and come with two twin size beds, two dressers, two desks, two chairs, and two closets. Each building has common lobbies, bathrooms, laundry facilities, resident key access, and vending machines. Each residence hall has a Residence Hall Director who resides in the building. Each floor also has resident assistants to serve in the buildings. Students can reserve a room by completing a residence hall application and making a $60.00 deposit.
