Guaranteed Scholarships

Southwestern Oklahoma State University has approved set standards for guaranteed scholarships to be awarded to incoming freshmen who are new high school graduates and Oklahoma residents who apply by the March 1st deadline. These awards are pre-approved for the 2006-2007 academic year. Additional scholarship awards of varying amounts will be awarded at the Scholarship Committee's discretion, but what is shown below are the guaranteed minimum scholarships you will qualify for if you are in these classifications and meet the criteria standards. All Oklahoma resident students are strongly encouraged to apply for scholarship consideration whether or not you meet the standards shown.

Scholarships are awarded based upon a point total using the following formula:

(High School Cumulative GPA x 100) + (ACT Composite Score x 10) = Point Total

Awards to be distributed are:

To qualify for these scholarships:

You must submit a fully completed SWOSU Freshman Scholarship Application to the Office of Student Financial Services by March 1st preceding your fall semester in college. *A six or seven semester high school GPA is required using a 4.00 GPA scale (other grading scales must be converted down using 4.00 as the maximum GPA possible for calculation).

Student Financial Services will confirm your point total based upon the high school counselor's information section on the application and send you a preliminary scholarship guarantee if you qualify. You will receive official confirmation after the March deadline. You must accept or decline the award by the date specified to secure the money.

The University Scholar Scholarship offers renewable criteria for those students who earn a 3.25 cumulative GPA annually at Southwestern Oklahoma State University and who also complete at least 24 credit hours during the fall and spring semesters only. Renewable awards are for 16 hours of tuition scholarship per semester. Tuition only, no fees, are paid on renewed University Scholar awards.

** All SWOSU students are encouraged to apply for the Continuing Student Tuition Scholarship annually by May 1st while attending SWOSU.
