Summer Bridge

The goal of the Summer Bridge program is to provide an intensive, four-week, enrichment experience to incoming STEM majors. It is designed to bridge the gap between high school and college by offering tools needed to succeed and graduate. This year's program will be from July 6^th to August 1^st.

The aim is to:

• Improve students' research skills
• Develop students' study and time management skills
• Introduce the students to a network of faculty, staff, and fellow students
• Get a feel of the SWOSU campus and its amenities
• Provide the student with tools needed to succeed and graduate in the STEM majors

The eligibility requirements for the program:

• Be an underrepresented or minority graduating high school senior
• Have been admitted to SWOSU
• Have a minimum ACT score of 20 or be admitted alternatively with a requirement to participate in the Bridge Program
• Planning to major in a STEM discipline

Participants are expected to:

• Attend the Bridge Program from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, for four weeks
• Take a course with laboratory
• Computer training
• Orientation
• Financial aid application and planning
• Career and academic advising
• Study and time management skills
• Demystifying registration
• Visits to departments and field trips to laboratories and industries
• Hear guest speakers who will act as role models for STEM careers
