Southwestern Oklahoma State University

For Parents

When students join the SWOSU community, we take their education and safety very seriously. It is for that reason that Southwestern has several departments dedicated to student services. Resources available to students include:

Campus Police

  • if you feel unsafe for any reason and would like to be escorted back to your dorm room
  • if you have an existing protection order and would like to keep a copy on file
  • E2Campus: a service in which you register your phone number with Campus Police who then send out a text message with important directions in emergency situations from severe weather to a campus lockdown

Personal Safety Classes

  • Eight week courses offered for credit through Continuing Education
  • Self-defense courses offered by Campus Police

Counseling Services

  • Counseling services are available to students for no additional fees

Health Services

  • Health services are offered to students for a small office visit fee

*Sayre Services

  • Several campus and local agencies provide services for students at the Sayre campus. Feel free to contact the Weatherford VIPER office for details.

VIPER is here to assist your student in accessing these resources and others. If you or your student has any questions about the services available, please do not hesitate to contact us.

While the consumption of alcohol is not the cause of victimization or perpetration of violence, research tells us that violence and alcohol abuse are often correlated. Below are a few resources to help you initiate dialogue with your student.
