Dr. Jerry Doyle - 1982

A graduate of Victory High School, Doyle originally started his college career at Oklahoma State University before transferring to Southwestern in 1951. He was a member of the Bulldog’s basketball and baseball teams. He was a three-time, all-conference basketball player and was a member of the 1953 team that qualified for the NAIA National Tournament in Kansas City. As a baseball player, he took all-conference honors three consecutive years and carried a .365 career batting average. He signed professionally with the Chicago White Sox and played in the minor leagues before being drafted into military service. After his discharge, he served as coach, teacher and eventually superintendent at Dill City. He held similar jobs at Granite, Altus, Moore and Elk City before joining the Oklahoma Department of Education in 1982.
