Gordon "Cake" Gore - 1982
An all-state athlete at Clinton High School, Gore is considered to be one of the finest athletes to play football in the state. He attended Southwestern State Teachers College from 1932-1936 during which he starred as a fullback on the football team, ran the 100-yard and 200-yard dashes, high and low hurdles, pole vaulted and played first base and outfield on the baseball team. He was named to the Daily Oklahoman’s all-Decade team of the 1930’s. He played professional football for a Los Angeles team in the American Football League. After his playing days, Gore started his career in education where he served as a coach and principal at Davidson, Walters and later Frederick High School before retiring in 1975.
