Charles Hicks - 1999
Hicks remains the school’s all-time leading rusher in football, more than 25 years since his playing days. He rushed for 4,233 yards and also holds the school records for most yards in a season with 1,511 set in 1971 and in a game with 294 against Eastern New Mexico. Overall, Hicks is listed in over 10 different statistical categories in the SWOSU record books. His younger brother, James, would later become a star at Southwestern in his own right. Hicks played professionally for the Green Bay Packers in 1972 and a year later joined the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in the Canadian Football League. He last played professionally for the Houston Oilers in 1975.
