Joe Milam - 1965

Milam assumed football and wrestling duties in the fall of 1926.  His first football team won the Oklahoma Collegiate Conference championship and he helped to develop the sport of wrestling which the Bulldogs would dominate on both a state, regional and national level. In 1993 and 1934, the Bulldogs won back-to-back National AAU Team Championships. Milam’s wrestling teams went 32-9 in duals meets and had two individuals win first place at the NCAA tournament. Two of his wrestlers, Steve England and Ralph Teague, were members of the Olympic team. Milam coached at SWOSU until 1936.
