Cecil Powell - 2005
Powell began at Southwestern in 1950 after graduating from Mountain View High School. His collegiate career was interrupted in 1953 when he joined the United States Army and served in the Korean War. He returned to SWOSU in 1955 where he led the Bulldogs to back-to-back Oklahoma Collegiate Conference baseball championships. He then coached baseball 25 years first at Anadarko and later Lawton Eisenhower before retiring in 1987. Powell moved into public service and became a school board official for five years before being elected Lawton’s mayor in 1998. He retired from office in 2004.
