G. D. "Gary" Toole - 1996
A Mangum native, Toole became the first member of Southwestern’s rodeo teams to be inducted into the Athletic Hall of Fame. He competed on the 1980 team that advanced to the College National Finals Rodeo. He joined the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association in 1979 as a bull rider and remained active in the sport until his retirement in 1990. He was the PRCA Bullriding Rookie-of-the-Year in 1979 and ended his career competing in more than 1,300 rodeos across the United States and Canada. He rode in six National Finals Rodeos and accumulated more than $360,000 of prize money during his career.
