Carl Bogdahn - 1978
Since graduating from Southwestern in 1950 with a bachelor of science in pharmacy degree, Carl Bogdahn has led a most active life at both the local and state levels. He served several terms as a city commissioner and was twice elected mayor of Woodward in northwestern Oklahoma, where he also is on the Small Business Advisory Board Council and a past chairman of the Christian Church Board and of the Board of Elders.
A former president of both the Chamber of Commerce and Kiwanis Club, he is owner and manager pharmacist of the Bogdahn Rexall Drug, Inc., Hillcrest Pharmacy and United Pharmacy, Inc., in Woodward.
Bogdahn, the vice-president and a board member of the Woodward Savings and Loan Association, is a 32nd-degree Mason and Shriner. The Woodward pharmacist has in recent years been president of the Oklahoma State Pharmacy Board, the Oklahoma Pharmaceutical Association, and the Southwestern Pharmacy Alumni Association.
He continues to be associated with his alma mater be serving as an instructor in the School of Pharmacy Community Practice Program. He is also a pharmacist consultant for Western State Hospital in Fort Supply. In 1970, Bogdahn was selected to receive the A. H. Robins Bowl of Hygeia Award presented annually for outstanding community service by the Oklahoma Pharmaceutical Association. That same year the Bogdahns were chosen for the National Association of Retail Druggists- Shering Family of the Year Award.
Bogdahn’s mother, Mrs. Vera E. Bogdahn of Woodward, is a registered pharmacist, as was her father, the late O.C. Bogdahn. Bogdahn is the father of four children. His wife, Patsy, died the past summer.
