Jerry Grizzle

General Jerry W. Grizzle, Ph.D. - 1994

General Jerry Wayne Grizzle graduated from SWOSU in 1976 majoring in accounting and is president and chief executive officer of Skolniks Bagels, a nationwide producer of bagels, in Oklahoma City.  He is also deputy commander of the 45th separate infantry of the Oklahoma Army National Guard.  He is the youngest full colonel in the state of Oklahoma.  Grizzle will be inducted into the officer Candidate School Hall of Fame in Fort Benning, Ga., in early September. 

As deputy commander, Grizzle is responsible for all matters affecting the combat readiness of the command which consists of 3,300 soldiers.  He was named to the post in July.  He has been involved in the Army National Guard for come 22 years.  Later this year, he will complete the process of becoming a brigadier general. 

Grizzle is a native of Oklahoma City and a graduate of Tulsa Nathan Hale High School.  He attended Southwestern on a football scholarship and was active in Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity.  He earned his bachelor’s degree from SWOSU and completed a master’s degree from the University of Central Oklahoma in 1983. 

He continues to participate and support many educational and civic-oriented events.  He has been active with the SWOSU School of Business Alumni Association and currently serves on the Board of Directors of the SWOSU Foundation. 

Grizzle’s wife, Shawn, is also a Southwestern graduate.  They have two children:  Brittany Nicole and Matthew Ryan.
