Garry McKee

Dr. Garry L. McKee - 2002

Dr. Garry L. McKee was recently appointed Administrator of the Food Safety and Inspection Service. Dr. McKee served as Administrator of Wyoming's Public Health Laboratory then served as Director of the Wyoming Department of Health. Prior to that, McKee was Chief of the Oklahoma State Department of Health's Public Health Laboratory and Director of Sanitary Bacteriology.

Since 1992, McKee has been a Lt. Commander in the U.S. Public Health Service Reserve. He also serves as a member of the National Public Health Anti-Terrorism Preparedness Task Force with the Association of State and Territorial Health Officials.

McKee earned his Bachelor of Science degree in biology from Southwestern in 1969. He received Masters degrees in public health and environmental science and a Doctorate in microbiology from the University of Oklahoma.

McKee, a native of Okeene and 1965 graduate of Enid High School, has been involved in many organizations and professional societies. He has three sons and two grandsons. He has an identical twin brother, Larry McKee, who is currently on the faculty at SWOSU.
