Rollin Reimer

Dr. Rollin D. Reimer - 1985

Dr. Rollin D. Reimer is the owner and publisher of the Cheyenne Star and Leedy Star newspapers.  He is also a member of the House of Representatives, where he served as chairman of the Rules committee and was a member of the Appropriations and Budget, Agriculture, County and Municipal Government, Public Health, and House Administration Committees. 

Rollin received his bachelor’s degree from Southwestern in 1961 with a major in Biology.  He received his master’s degree from the University of Arkansas in 1963 and his doctorate degree from Tulsa University in 1968.  He taught Biology at Northeast Louisiana State University in 1936-64 and Stephen F. Austin State University in 1964-65. 

He was a member of the Texas A & M University, working wit the College of Agriculture in the Research Division and the Department of Wildlife and fisheries Sciences, and College of Marine Sciences.  Rollin taught school in Cheyenne in 1975-76 and was principal of the Crawford Public Schools in 1976-78. 

He was elected to the House of Representatives in 1979.  He was the Legislative Representative to the State Department of Education on the Professional Standards Board; National Legislative Representative to the Advisory Board for ERIC Clearing-house on Rural Education and Small Schools; and Legislative Liaison and Founder of Communities United for Rural Education, a statewide organization to support and improve rural education in Oklahoma.  Rollin is active in the local, area, and state Historical Societies. 

He is a member of the Masonic Lodge, Cheyenne Chamber of Commerce, and Kiwanis Club.  Rollin and his wife, Linda, have four children.
