Lamar Crall

Lamar Crall a lifetime resident of the Weatherford area graduated from Weatherford High School in 1950. He graduated from Southwestern Oklahoma State University in 1959 with a B.S. degree in Accounting. He began teaching in the SWOSU School of Business in 1967 after receiving his MBA degree from the University of Arkansas.  He retired as an Assistant Professor from Southwestern Oklahoma State University in December 1996 after teaching 27 years.

Southwestern Oklahoma State University has always been a big part of his life. His parents and wife also graduated from SWOSU. Many of his family friends over the years have been Southwestern faculty and students.

Lamar’s longtime interest has been in production agriculture.  He enjoys the everyday challenges of farming and ranching. His hobbies include genealogy, art appreciation and woodworking. He likes to work Sudoku, play Freecell and solve mathematical puzzles and quizzes.

Lamar’s graduation advice to his students was to read, be wise, save, anticipate change and be an independent thinker. Don’t follow the crowd, as the crowd is usually wrong. Don’t be afraid to take calculated risks.

Lamar was one of the original founders of the SWOSU Foundation. The founders saw a need for a foundation to provide financial support for the university. They organized a tax exempt corporation, adopted bylaws, provided starting Capital and selected a board of directors. The five original founders and first Board of Directors were: Dr. Leonard Campbell, President SWOSU, Dr. W.W. Ward, Retired Dean, SWOSU School of Business, Ed Berrong, Berrong Insurance and Real Estate, Weatherford, Paul Flick, owner Blunk’s Studio, Clinton, and Lamar Crall, SWOSU Faculty. They each contributed $100 to start the foundation.

Lamar and his wife Opal Hampton have five children. Ed Crall, Leslie Crall, Dick Hampton, Kaye Burlison, and Terry Franz.
