Visiting Artist Program
The Visiting Artist Program was established in 2006. The Oklahoma Arts Council, Weatherford Arts Council, and SWOSU have sponsored it.
Per year, the program invites artists who have national and international recognition for exhibitions, gallery talks, and workshops. The program is beneficial to SWOSU and the community as a part of a cultural enrichment program. It also serves neighboring communities by opening all its events and exhibitions to the general public for free, including K-12 students and their teachers.
Recently, the Visiting Artist Program added ‘Let’s meet the Artist’ for informal come and go type public friendly gallery talk sessions. The program saw the effectiveness of modifying the ‘presentation’ to an informal gathering. For the general public, it is a fun event and a learning experience. They will learn and explore various art forms, and develop an appreciation in art.
