Michael Catterson

Director of Sports Medicine

Michael Catterson currently serves in a dual role as Head Athletic Trainer and Director of the Athletic Training Education Program at Southwestern Oklahoma State University.

He earned his BS in Athletic Training from the University of Tulsa and his MS in kinesiology from the University of Nevada Las Vegas. He is a member of the National Athletic Trainers Association.

He is currently serving as the Chair of the Lone Star Conference Athletic Trainers’ Association. In addition, he holds certifications from the American Red Cross as an instructor in CPR and First Aid, from CAATE as an Approved Clinical Instructor Educator.

His job responsibilities include teaching several classes each semester, supervising students enrolled in SWOSU’s nationally accredited Athletic Training Education program, supervising facilities and staff, budgeting and purchasing, maintaining medical records, administering the secondary coverage athletic insurance program, and coordinating drug testing.

He is married to Kim Arrington, a counselor at Weatherford Middle School.
