SWOSU Annouces Student-Athlete Honor

January 9, 2006

Weatherford, OK - Southwestern Oklahoma State University recognized 90 student-athletes who obtained a high level of success in the classroom during the fall 2005 semester. The SWOSU scholar-athlete program recognizes those students with at least a 3.0 grade point average (4.0 scale) and 12 or more hours during the semester. Each student was counted only once, although some student-athletes participated in two or more sports.

“It is an honor to recognize these student-athletes who exemplify what the college experience is all about,” Cecil Perkins, SWOSU Athletic Director, said. “Their commitment to excellence on and off the playing field is inspiring and should serve as an example to all.”

The SWOSU football team led the way with 15 players on the scholar athlete list. Men’s golf (75%, eight-of-12) and women’s soccer (56%, 13-of-23) had the highest percentage of team members on the academic list.
