SWOSU Pom and Cheer Squad Tryouts Announced

Weatherford, OK - Persons interested in joining the Southwestern Oklahoma State University Cheerleading or Pom Squad are encouraged to attend an open tryout set for Friday, March 31 and Saturday, April 1. The two-day clinic is designed to teach chants, group cheers and dance routines that will be used to evaluate and determine members of both squads for the 2006-07 school year.Candidates for the Pom squad will be required to attend Friday’s instructional clinic which is set to begin at 7 p.m. at Rankin Williams Fieldhouse. During this time, they will learn a one-minute dance, chant, and interview with the adviser. Pom candidates will then return Saturday at 2 p.m. for the actual tryout in the gym.
Cheerleading candidates will have their tryout beginning Saturday at 9 a.m. in the gymnasium.
Members of the 2006-07 SWOSU Pom and Cheer Squads will be eligible for a $200 per semester in-state fee waiver as well as receive academic credit for the class. Out-of-state students will not be required to pay the out-of-state rate. In addition a room waiver for a semi-private room is available for those cheer or pom members who wish to stay in University housing.
Candidates should wear appropriate clothing for tryouts.
