Athletic Auction set for Aug. 1

WEATHERFORD, Okla. - Supporters of the Southwestern Oklahoma State University athletic program can again provide direct relief to the growing costs of an athletic scholarship by participating in a special Hawaiian Luau Dinner and Auction this summer.The third-annual event, co-sponsored by the SWOSU Athletic Department and the SWOSU Athletic Association, is set to begin at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 1, in the University's Wellness Center. The event is designed to raise additional money for the funding of athletic scholarships for many of the 12 sports programs SWOSU currently sponsors. The previous two auctions have raised more than $125,000 for student-athlete scholarships and its popularity and success have made in one of the largest summer-fun events in western Oklahoma.
Single dinner/auction tickets are $45 and eight-seat table can be reserved for $500. Tickets are now available and must be purchased in advanced by calling 580-774-3155 or by e-mailing athleticassociation@swosu.edu. A sellout is anticipated so event sponsors are encouraging interested participants to reserve today.

The planned menu for the evening includes the following: carved roast beef with horseradish sauce, grilled chicken breast with mango salsa, red skin mashed potatoes, island creamed corn, assorted seasonal salads, Hawaiian rolls,chocolate volcano fountain.
The purpose of the SWOSU Athletic Association is to supplement the Athletic Department's budget in order to be competitive in the prestigious NCAA Division II and Lone Star Conference. The top priorities are recruiting and scholarships. The funds will be used to attract talented athletes to campus and supplement the department's scholarship fund.
