SWOSU Drops Pair to Bronchos

Weatherford, OK - Southwestern Oklahoma State put together a stirring rally only to see it come undone in extra innings with an 8-6 loss to Central Oklahoma in the first game of a baseball doubleheader Wednesday in Weatherford. UCO completed the sweep with a 14-7 win in the second game.SWOSU has lost eight of its last nine games and has seen its overall record dip to 16-19 on the year. The Bulldogs are 1-6 in Lone Star Conference North Division and in a fifth-place tie with Eat Central. The top three North teams will qualify for the LSC Postseason Tournament set for next month in Abilene, Texas.
SWOSU’s Landon Thompson went two-for-four with a home run and two RBI’s to lead the Bulldogs offensively. He started a four-run rally in the seventh when he was hit-by-a-pitch with two outs. The Bulldogs then strung together four consecutive run-scoring hits by Levi Garrett, Sean Rogers, Ryan Pease and Mark Cole before Rocky Diffendaffer struck out to end the rally.
Bulldog starter Dustin Anderson remained in the game in the eighth but was greeted by a two-run homer by Tim Sullivan that put UCO ahead to stay at 8-6.
SWOSU will next play Saturday and Sunday at Northeastern State University for a three-game set. The Bulldogs will be at home Friday, April 14 against Southeastern Oklahoma State University.
