Baseballers Swept in Opening Series

STEPHENVILLE – Southwestern Oklahoma State University’s baseball team stumbled out of the starting block to begin the 2007 season losing four games to Tarleton State University in a weekend series in Stephenville, Texas.
The Bulldogs were 13-4 and 9-6 losers on Friday and were beaten 6-1 and 10-1 on Saturday by the Texans.
SWOSU hit only .226 collectively as a team while Tarleton rattled the Bulldogs pitching staff with three home runs and 11 extra base hits. The Texans hit .336 against SWOSU pitching.
SWOSU was not without stars offensively as senior outfielder Sean Rogers hit .308 in 13 at bats including a home run in his first plate appearance of the season. Newcomer Dakota Streber also hit a home run, a three-run shot in the second game Friday that brought the Bulldogs to within two runs of Tarleton.
SWOSU will next play Wednesday at home against the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma. First pitch is set for 2 p.m.
