RICHARDSON, Texas – Southwestern Oklahoma State University baseball player Tristan Cummings became the first Bulldog baseball player to be awarded the Lone Star Conference North Division Hitter-of-the-Week award.
Cummings, a 5-8 senior shortstop from Muskogee, played a key role in leading the Bulldogs to a four-game series sweep of Eastern New Mexico during the weekend. Cummings hit .625, collecting 10 hits in 16 at bats. He scored six runs, drove in five more, had a double, triple and a home run.
Cummings, who played last year at Fort Hays State University, raised his season batting average to .353 after the recent hot streak. He and his Bulldog teammates will next play nationally-ranked Abilene Christian University in a four-game series beginning Friday at 12 noon in Weatherford.
