Streber, Morrison Win Weekly Award

RICHARDSON, Texas – Southwestern Oklahoma State University swept the final player-of-the-week honors awarded by the Lone Star Conference collecting both the pitcher and hitter awards.

Dakota Streber, a junior catcher from Shawnee, was selected as the LSC North Hitter-of-the-Week after posting a .733 average (11-for-15) as SWOSU closed its regular season winning four of the final five games in series against East Central and Cameron. Streber also added seven runs, two RBI’s, a double, a triple and took over the team lead in batting with a .346 average. Streber went nine-for-10 in the doubleheader last week against Cameron, including tying a school record with five hits in a single game in the opener.

Chris Morrison, a sophomore right hander from Wolf City, Texas, was chosen the LSC North Pitcher-of-the-Week after throwing a seven-inning shutout in a 5-0 win against ECU. Morrison struck out three and walked one and improved his overall record to 5-4 and lowered his ERA to 6.53.

Streber, Morrison and the rest of their Bulldog teammates will next play Saturday in the first round of the LSC Post-Season Tournament against Angelo State University. First pitch is set for 11 a.m. at Abilene Christian University’s Crutcher Stadium.
