Baseball Splits With ECU

WEATHERFORD, Okla. - Southwestern Oklahoma State University split the first two games of its baseball series with East Central Friday winning the first game 5-3 before losing the nightcap 7-3. The same two teams will play again Saturday in doubleheader beginning at 1 p,m.

SWOSU's Drake Accord picked up the win in the first game throwing six innings and allowing just two runs. Accord scattered six hits, struck out four and walked one to improve to 4-1 on the year. Alexander Betrian pitched the seventh to pick up the save.

SWOSU is now 15-7 on the year and 8-5 in the Lone Star Conference.

The Bulldogs took a 3-0 lead thanks to RBI singles by Morgan Marr, Kenny Hare and Jon-Andrew Martin.

SWOSU put the game out of reach in the fifth with a pair of runs after the Tigers got within one at 3-2.

In game two, SWOSU generated just five hits and scored three runs thanks to the strong pitching effort by ECU's Randell Shrouder and Andy Pendleton. Shrouder allowed just three runs through six innings before Pendleton shut the Bulldogs down the final three innings not allowing a single base hit.
