Pancake Feed Nets $3,000

WEATHERFORD – The men’s basketball team at Southwestern Oklahoma State University raised more than $3,000 earlier this month at a pancake breakfast fundraiser.

Nearly 400 people attended the breakfast in which members of the Bulldog basketball team served, waited and interacted with members of the SWOSU campus and Weatherford community.

The meal, which consisted of hot pancakes, syrup, juice, coffee and ham steaks, was provided courtesy of Taco Mayo and Bar-S Foods. Members of the SWOSU Athletic Association served as cooks.

“Everyone was very eager to help,” Rouben Tourian, assistant athletic director for external affairs, said. “The response we got was outstanding. The people I talked to seemed to enjoy themselves and are looking forward to the next one.”

The money raised will go to supplement the team’s existing budget to help defray costs associated with meals, travel, equipment and supplies.
