The important win came when the Bulldogs are fighting Northeastern State for the North Division’s fourth and final qualifying spot for the Lone Star Conference Tournament. SWOSU is now 17-8 overall and 5-6 in division play. The Bulldogs close the regular season at Texas A&M-Commerce on Saturday.
Senior Othello Alford had one of his best games as a Bulldog leading the team in scoring with 18 points and nine assists. He helped fuel a SWOSU offense that showcased much of the razzle-dazzle that had been a team trademark early in the year. His “in-your-face, and one dunk” with 26 seconds to play put SWOSU ahead 43-33 at the break and brought an appreciative roar from the crowd.
Alford turned much of the scoring load over to teammates Clarke Hale, Nate Perry fellow senior Reggie Gunn in the game’s final 20 minutes. Hale finished with 17 points, followed by Perry with 16 and Gunn with 15.

The Aggies did climb within five points when Reid sank a three-pointer to trim SWOSU’s lead to 62-57 with 10:43 to play. Alford then followed with a three-point bomb of his own and jump started the Bulldogs to a 22-2 run that left Cameron bewildered and out of options.
Michael Sampson scored on a fast-break layup to put the Bulldogs in front 84-59 with six minutes to play. Both teams traded easy baskets until the horn sounded with the Bulldogs winning 95-73.
SWOSU made 40-of-72 (56%) of their shots while Cameron managed to net just 26-of-61 (43%). The Bulldogs forced the Aggies into 29 turnovers that led to 30 points. SWOSU turned it over 18 times which Cameron turned into 15 points.
