Thanksgiving Basketball Classic Set

For basketball lovers this will be one of the best times of the year with an abundance of outstanding games featuring top-quality teams right here in Weatherford that make up the field for the SWOSU Athletic Association Thanksgiving Classic. The two-day event begins Friday, Nov. 23 and continues Saturday, Nov. 24 with tipoff at 2 p.m. each day. A total of four games will be played daily and will run non-stop through the afternoon and evening hours at Rankin Williams Gymnasium.
Both the SWOSU men and women’s basketball teams share the spotlight in the tournament with the women playing at 6 p.m. and the men to follow at 8 p.m each night. The SWOSU women (1-1) play Friday against University of Texas Permian Basin while the SWOSU men (2-0) meet New Mexico Highlands University in the late game that day.
Earlier Friday games include a women’s matchup with East Central University taking on Paul Quinn College at 2 p.m. The next game at 4 p.m., promises to be quite entertaining as Central Oklahoma, the Lone Star Conference North pre-season favorite, faces Southwest Baptist University, the 2005-06 Missouri Intercollegiate Athletic Association Champion.
Saturday the team’s change opponents with the SWOSU women playing Paul Quinn at 6 p.m. and the SWOSU men playing Southwest Baptist at 8 p.m. Earlier in the day the ECU women will play Texas Permian Basin at 2 p.m. and the UCO men will play New Mexico Highlands at 4 p.m.
Admission for the event is free to all members of the SWOSU Athletic Association. Regular ticket prices are $7 for adults or a two-day tournament pass is $12. College and high school students with identification cards will be $2.
