Bulldogs Crack Top 10
December 11, 2007
Southwestern Oklahoma State University has joined some exclusive company in the hierarchy of NCAA Division II basketball. The Bulldogs, who are unbeaten in eight games under second-year coach Todd Thurman, moved up three spots in the latest NABC Division II Coaches Poll and are ranked No. 10.
The 10th place ranking is the highest for a SWOSU team since the Bulldogs stood at No. 3 after an 11-0 start during the 2004-05 seasons.
The top six spots stayed the same this week, but two new teams entered the top ten after losses knocked two teams out of the group.
Bentley and Grand Valley State are ranked first and second, respectively, for the second week in a row, while South Dakota, Rollins, Winona State and Cal State-San Bernardino retained the next four places in the poll. Drury moved up a spot to seventh after Emporia State lost twice last week, including one to a Nebraska-Omaha team that vaulted to 12th. Another team from the North Central Conference, St. Cloud State, moved up to No. 8 this week, followed by Seattle and SWOSU who enters at No. 10.
