WEATHERFORD, Okla. – Southwestern Oklahoma State University got a season-high 26 points from Nate Perry and steadily pulled themselves away from the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma with an 80-64 victory Wednesday in Weatherford.

The win kept the tenth-ranked Bulldogs perfect on the season and improved their overall record to 9-0. USAO, which was led by Dexter Williams with 15 points, fell to 5-4 with the loss.

Perry, a 6-5 senior forward dominated on both ends of the court, making 12-of-16 shots and pulling down a SWOSU season-best 17 rebounds. Perry’s 17-rebound effort tied Cameron’s Leslie Malone who had 17 earlier this year as the best mark by a Lone Star Conference player this season.

Trevor Guy added 14 points for the Bulldogs who scored 80 or more points for the third time this year.

SWOSU held a 52-47 lead midway through the second half when Perry got the crowd to its feet with an alley-oop slam dunk off a feed from Guy. The lead was back at 10 57-47 when Abdullah Lawal drained the second of his two three-pointers with 9:27 to play.

The Bulldogs had the lead pushed to 15 with 5:24 to play and kept USAO from ever closing it to under double digits.

The Bulldogs ended the game making 51% on 30-of-58 attempts while USAO made 46% on 22-of-48 shots. SWOSU had a considerable advantage underneath out rebounding the Drovers by a 41-24 margin.

SWOSU will next play Thursday, Dec. 20 at Fort Hays State University, a team it beat 73-65 last month in Weatherford.
