The victory improved the SWOSU men to 15-9 on the year and kept them in second place in the Lone Star Conference North Division race with a 6-3 mark. SOSU dropped to 5-20 and 2-8 with the loss.
Jerard Campbell had 17 points to lead SWOSU in scoring. He also topped the team in rebounds with six and assists with four. His fourth and final assist was pinpoint pass that led to an alley-oop slam dunk by his younger brother, Jacob.
Abdullah Lawal made his second entry into the LSC record book by recording six steals on the night to up his overall season total to 111. Already, the career leader in that category, Lawal broke the season mark that had previously stood for 11 years.
Clarke Hale had 14 points and Kenneth White added 13 points and Jordan Frosch scored 11 to complete the double-figure scorers for the Bulldogs.
William Slones had 20 points and 12 rebounds to lead the Savage Storm.
The two teams were tied at 15-15 before SWOSU broke the game open with a 16-3 run that ended with a throw down dunk by Jerard Campbell. Campbell's score gave SWOSU a 31-18 lead with 5:55 remaining in the first. SWOSU kept that margin taking a 41-26 lead into the halftime break.
The lead grew to 20 points later in the second half after Keith Richardson swished a three-pointer to make it 53-33 with 11:36 to play. The Bulldogs were not finished and stretched it to 31 later on Jacob Campbell's highlight reel dunk that made the score 83-52 with 40 seconds to play.
SWOSU finished the game making 47% of its shots on 27-of-57 attempts. The Bulldogs were 18-of-23 from the line for 78% while SOSU was just six-of-12 for 50%. SWOSU turned the ball over just 10 times, 10 fewer than the Savage Storm, who were guilty of 20 turnovers.
SWOSU's next game will be Saturday at East Central University in Ada. Tipoff is set for 4 p.m.
