Dawson Leads 'Dawgs Past ENMU

Weatherford, OK- Southwestern Oklahoma State got 19 points from Julie Dawson (6-0, Sr., F, Arnett) and effectively shut down an Eastern New Mexico team that came in unbeaten in four tries. SWOSU won the Lone Star Conference crossover battle, 73-46.

Dawson was joined in double figure scoring by Andrea Oldham (6-0, Jr., C, Stigler) with 15 and Kayla Horn (6-0, Jr, F, Hydro) with 12 points. The victory stopped a four-game skid and improved the Bulldogs to 3-4 on the season.

ENMU, which shot just 25% (16-of-64) from the field, was led by Heather Brown with 14 points. The Zias dropped to 4-1 after the loss.

SWOSU never trailed and were up 25-12 with 6:52 to play in the first half after a 13-0 run. Dawson scored seven points in that stretch, including a three pointer that started it.

SWOSU led 36-20 at half and managed to build their lead to 26 with 13 minutes to play. The Bulldogs used 11 players, eight of which scored.

SWOSU next plays Saturday at home against unbeaten West Texas A&M. Tipoff is set for 2 p.m. at Rankin Williams Fieldhouse.
