SWOSU vs MSU
Witchita Falls, TX - Southwestern Oklahoma State’s hot shooting hand cooled at the wrong time and the Bulldogs could not recapture it in time, losing 80-73 to Midwestern State in a women’s basketball game Saturday.

The Bulldogs (4-6) had Midwestern State on its heels early and carried the lead throughout much of the first half. Julie Dawson (6-0, Sr., F, Arnett) had a season-best 24 points for SWOSU who ended the game shooting 45% (25-of-55).

SWOSU led 28-26 after a short basket by Dru Tomaszewski (5-10, Jr., G, San Antonio, Texas) put the Bulldogs ahead with 4:08 to play. MSU then closed with a 12-5 run and took a 38-33 advantage into the locker room.

MSU, which evened its record at 4-4, was led in scoring by Angie Faurot, Katherin Maples and Brandi Bush. Each had 19 points.

MSU built its lead up to 17 points at one point in the second half before the Bulldogs closed late. Dawson’s basket with three seconds to play made it 80-73. It was the closest SWOSU had been since the early moments of the second half.

Joining Dawson in double figure scoring was Andrea Oldham (6-0, Jr., C, Stigler) with 17 points and Tomaszewski with 10.

SWOSU will next play at home Wednesday, Dec. 21 against Arkansas Tech. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m.
